Testing Preparation

Making sure your equipment is ready for testing before sending it to a lab is critical. To try to keep costs down, the lab will assume that testing can be performed quickly with minimal setup.

Here is a checklist you can use to facilitate the setup and test:

  • Have you contacted the lab to book the test?
  • Are all power supplies and cables included in the box to allow the engineer to power up and run the device?
  • If the product is a sample or circuit board, are there precautions that must be adhered to? If so, are they clearly documented, and is the documentation included with the device?
  • If the operation of the device is not obvious, is there a short readme on how to power up the device, connect DMX, and initiate communication?
  • Have you included the device's UID number?
  • Have you listed all PIDs implemented in the device?
  • Have you listed all of the device's RDM-compatible sensors?
  • Have you included a list of all of the device's possible status messages, and how to generate them?
  • Is there a contact name, e-mail address, and telephone number for an engineer in case any questions arise?
